In case you missed it: of Montreal releases “Rune Husk” EP

With the world having lost both Prince and David Bowie in 2016, it’s reassuring to have of Montreal carrying on with their characteristic sound that draws so heavily from these two giants. Following up last year’s Innocence Reaches, of Montreal quietly released the 4-song Rune Husk EP, which may have flown under the radar of all but their most loyal fans. Lead singer/songwriter Kevin Barnes has never been one to shy away from experimenting with new sounds, and Rune Husk continues this tradition. The closing track “Island Life” embodies this more experimental, drone-like sound, while “Stag to the Stable” recalls the best moments from classic of Montreal albums like The Sunlandic Twins. They’ve also announced tour dates for this Spring, and if you’ve never caught one of their wild theatrical live shows you’ve got to go check it out. Check out the EP, as well as tour dates below:
