If you don’t know already, I have a love affair with Lightning in a Bottle –California’s premier music, yoga and arts festival. I’ve been attending this incredible event annually since 2014, and Magnus Høiberg (aka Cashmere Cat) was part of that crucial first impression that kept me coming back for more.
As one of the foremost artists in the downtempo EDM scene, Cashmere Cat is best known for his collaborations with Ariana Grande and Kanye West (Wolves – The Life of Pablo). His style is highly eclectic — a fusion of ambient electronic beats, seemingly inscrutable vocals, and what I can only describe as “an onslaught of the coolest sounds you’ve ever heard”. He is gearing up for the release of his first LP, which is expected to drop before the end of the year. The Bighorn Sheep sincerely hopes that this album (which was announced in February of 2016) drops before the ball does on New Years. If not, you can expect to see another post with the following headline: “Cashmere Cat drops the ball on dropping his album before the ball drops”. All jokes aside, Cashmere Cat has been crushing it for the past few years and I can’t wait to check out his new material.
Now is a great time to mention how unfathomably dope his live performances are. I’ve partied with the cat 3 times so far (LiB 2014, CRSSD 2015, LiB 2016) and he has never failed to impress. I highly recommend the following west coast shows:
October 1st and 2nd, 2016 – CRSSD Festival – San Diego, CA – CRSSD Official Website
November 11th, 2016 – The Regency Ballroom – San Francisco, CA – The Regency Ballroom
